Subject: The Windshield Wiper Saga continues…

Well, I opened up the "the plastic box" this evening and found the two purple windshield wiper relays. Then I ran off to the dealer and bought two new relays. After getting them installed, but prior to putting everything back in place I tested out the wipers, they where/are still dead...

Then I looked again to see if I put the relays in backwards or something and noticed something I had missed earlier: There are three little wires that where just hanging out, one end not attached to anything. Then I looked at one of the relay harnesses and realized that it only had three wires going to it.

Thus I know the problem; three wires need to be hooked up again. I found the wiring diagram on e38.org, but I lack the knowledge and maybe the skill needed to get the wires back in place. If soldering is involved, it is most definitely beyond my skill level.

Is this something I can fix myself? If not, to whom should I entrust this fix? A friend has a good mechanic, this mechanic is a general mechanic, do not expect him to know much of anything about BMW’s. Or should I seek out the shop in town called "Just BMW’s" and pay the higher hourly rate? Your thoughts?
