My motor and lock (fully operational, never malfunctioned) are sitting in the misc parts/bulbs/lube box that I keep in my trunk. I had some electric locking issues when I bought the car, so I pulled the fuse until it was resolved. I've never seen the need to reinstall the motor.

To my knowledge I have never had fuel stolen, and even if someone did intend to steal my fuel, I'd prefer they be able to get at it WITHOUT destroying my fuel door in the process. I also seldom lock my car doors for the same reasons. I never keep valuables in my car, and I'd prefer thieves NOT have to smash my windows to learn this fact.
