The rear view mirror fell off yesterday. I went to Autozone to get a packet of mounting kit. It costs only $3.49. Took about 5 minutes. 15 minutes after the glue set the mirror was mounted ang working again.

When it fell off, the button has a thin layer of black colored old glue. I scraped it off best as I can using a utility knife. The kit comes with a packet of towlette to clean the mounting surface. I used a black marker to locate the button on the outside of the windshield first before cleaning. For after cleaning the old mounting mark on the windshield will be gone. I waited two minutes for the area to dry after cleaning. Then apply sufficient amount of the glue on the button to attach it immediately to the mounting point. After 15 minutes, I cam back to mount the mirror and that's it.

The button of the rear view mirror. Most of the old glue was scraped off. But it is not done yet.

Mirror before installation. Remember the orientation of the button. There are three notches on the metal button 120 degrees apart. When you install the button, one of the notches has to be at 12 o'clock.

The button removed from the mirror. This give you a good idea how to mount the mirror. Just push the mirror on the mounted button skewed and twist in to lock.
