who almost gave up his car after 6 months of trouble when the engine suddenly did not start or stop, then after 1-2 hours or sometimes after days it was running as if nothing happened. We told him to check the fusible link. He replied that he did and it would be fine. Till finally he found the second one. The fusible link had a hair crack which sometimes still worked.

I have translated a comment I found on the German board:

From battery plus pole there are 3 cables going to:

the thick one to starter/alternator
and 2 thinner red ones.

One of the thinner red ones is going together with the thick one under the doors towards front and are connected to the MOTRONIC.

The other tin one is in front of the rear seat under the carpet connected to the fuse and module box under the left rear seat. And from there the cable goes to the fuse box in engine room.

BOTH thin cables have a fusible link of min 50A (depending on the modell), but they can be hardly seen because they are in the shrink cover.

kazam: can you confirm that you have ONE battery only, not a second in the trunk which was option?
Because there could be another fusible link maybe (?)
