Subject: Thank you Shogun for pointing out the difference!

I had been noticed the difference about my 88 tranny while I replaced about a year ago at my mechanic shop. The housing of casted tranny stamped 4HP22 but plate showed clearly 4PH24. At that time, I was confused these two numbers but now I know that two models share the same housing.

Due to my '88 new installed used tranny has 7 pins connector, compared to my original 8 pins, there is reverse solenoid pin missing in the late 4PH24. (This function on late tranny is built into another soleniod.)

My IP currently shows Trans Prog error message once I turned on the engine. I don't know what happened yet but no matter what, I need to put the original back so the electronic transimssion module won't miss any signal at least.

I am trying to collect more information for my rebuild. These pictures with little hints are my best friend since picture is much better than text description. However, too many things happened on my ride. I need to get rid of these symptoms one at a time.

My original tranny showed slip gear change from 1 to 2 to 3 till warm-up. Other than that, she was working fine.

Can't wait to see my ride on the road again. You see, people who changed their tranny are with smiling face :-)

It is long way to fix my ride but I am in progress, even slowly.

Cheers,

Rocky
