I had used the writeup found at Shogun's site and thought some of these pics should be interesting. Not sure if I should write an update to it with more details, but I should at least contribute back. The text at Shogun's is right on and very accurate. Just does not have enough pics of the springs and channel plate rebuild.

Thanks everyone who help wrote up the original and the other posts that has mroe details.

Here's my pics.
I guess this is as good as any to buy and install a lift.

Check the color of the oil out. Supposed to be Red and not capucinno
Note that I've changed all torx screws to hex before doing this.

I never knew Zellers have trans filters

Crap on the drain plug. Actually they are iron/steel metal fillings. You should see the magnet below the oil carrier too. you will never guess the amount of crap on the magnet.

Now I know what is meant by the flat bolts that holds the VB to the trans and what they looked like.

Here is the VB on my desk. I bought a plastic container to do the work. I sugggest that if you do this, you should get one as there are still about 200ml of oil left in the VB. Makes the work easy and clean and it comes with a cover to keep dust and other people out - bonus

Housing 1 has a few updated springs and main pressure valve.

Housing 2 and 3 is pretty much standard. Remove screws and valves(rods) and change springs.

Channel plate with new parts

The old and new checkballs. I did not have a reverse problem but it seems like the one in housing 3 is definitely worn out.
I did both my 740 and 750 and I must say the never 750iL valve body does not wear out the checkball at all, well about 0.5 of a 1/32 after 140,000km. This is compared to the 740iL which has 180,000km on the vb - see pics

Lots more pics if interested.
