Couple things. I didn't have an E12 of any kind (and since I tend to do projects at 2 in the morning, no luck going out to get one), but I found a 3/8ths inch socket worked perfectly. I was worried about stripping it, but had no issues. Also, I didn't remove the vent glass when I did mine. Just removed the front trim piece and window gasket and pulled the window straight out.
