Here's instructions to remove the door lock pins below. And I'm not quite sure since I not driving the e38 today...but if you open the ash tray in the center console, then push the button that raises & releases the ashtray upward so that you can remove it...it should give you access to the emergency flasher switch so that you can push it up from below (like rhody 740 suggested)
