Subject: What does it cost to run a 750 for one year? (long)

While rummaging through some old papers i came across the deeds on the car. It turns out that yesterday, 1st February, one year ago i bought the car.
I remember it well, it was colder than inside a freezer when i drove it home. Not registrated, not insured, summer tires, -20 someting C and a friend driving a bit ahead to warn if the gestapo was there. I also remember the haggling.. It was running poorly when i bought it. After countless hours of studying about the M70 i knew that one intake gasket was leaking (Sean method from S&J page, lean on the intake). I got the price of new intake gaskets off from the original price, i later used some sealant and it has worked thus far..

I am now going to do something that i honestly never done before, i am going to add up what this car has cost me in repairs since i bought it. Keep in mind that i bought it more or less as a fix-er-upper.. And i should add that ive done everything myself so no labour costs are added. And that these are just the repairs that i remember.

Sealant for intake gaskets, oil, oilfilter, engine flush, sparkplugs, airfilters. = 150€.
Battery =130€
Fuel injectors = 430€
Upper- and lower-control arms and dog bones = 300€
Oil, oilfilter, eningine flush, 80€
O2 sensors, both sides = 80€
Throttle motors (brand new(!) from UK ebay) = 340€
Oil, oilfilter = 70€
Fuel filters = 40€
Holy crap this adds up..
1620€.. Thats just in repairs and service. Add fuel consimption, insurance and taxes to that and i might do something drastic..

Oh.. Lets not forget the winter tyres, Gislaved Nordfrost 5, 205/65-15 = 530€
2150€..

And this is not the end of it by far. I still need dizzycaps, rotors, cabin filter, rear brakediscs (prolly pads aswell), tranny oil and filter, exhaust system (maybe i will weld a new one myself).....

And then we have the upgrades that are to come.. Mild lowering springs, 17´ alloys with summer tyres, stereo is getting old, performance chip(?), engine preheater (oil heater?).

On the bright side i have had the 7 as my daily driver since last summer/fall and it hasnt failed me yet. This includes temperature swings between +30C (last summer) to -26C (last week). It always starts. I havent had to do any major (costly) repairs all winter either.
And i just love the look in peoples eyes when the realize that it is a 7 series and they ask if ive got a 6 cyl or 8 cyl under the hood.. This is from a country where 99% of all vehicles are 4 bangers..

I love my 7. It has cost me a small fortune but i dont care. The one and only thing that bothers me is the looks of it. I mean, it looks great for an enthusiast but for the eye of a "normal" person it looks aged. And when something looks aged, it IS aged, or so they think. Even if the comfort, performance, safety, well, mostly everything exceeds a brand new Korean car, its still a old crappy car..
