Subject: I've ordered many of those parts for my father's 750iL last week.

I noticed on his car that these two hoses (parts 20 and 21) were severely compromised --- they were so soft you could poke a hole in them with a finger, so I decided to replace them along with all of the other related rubber pieces. Here's the parts list and prices from The BMW Store:

short air hose (cyl 1-6) 11721704306 $4.37
short air hose (cyl 7-12) 11721704307 $4.37
T-connector 11721439973 $0.61
vacuum hose 51731257971 $13.69 (1 meter)
vacuum hose 51731259951 (2) $4.21
vacuum hose 51731259953 $4.21
non-return valve 11611312737 $12.39
support 11731264101 $0.83
container 11611312762 $5.92

I've not yet tested the electric valve (part #11741742712, item 1 in your diagram), but since it's relatively inexpensive at $33.41 and I don't want to have to take everything apart twice, I ordered it, too.

Also going under the knife are the EGR vavles and gaskets at the front of the engine. I should've replaced them last year when I replaced the auxilliary air pump. It appears that the EGR valve system caused the failure of the original air pump, so I hope I've not waited too long.

egr valve (cyl 1-6) 11721704257 $74.12
egr valve (cyl 7-12) 11721704258 $74.12
gasket 11727505259 (2) $3.89

Regarding your question about the SES light, though, you can disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for 10-15 minutes. That should clear the code. I use a Peake R5/FCX-II reset tool.
