I'm not sure if the motor is supposed to engage or not, but mine sure did. I heard the motor turn on and I couldn't move my hand out of the way in time.

I wonder why BMW didn't make the fuel door lock heated like the driver's door lock. It is next to the fuel line though but it shouldn't get that hot. On the other hand, my driver's door lock gets quite hot. I first found out that the e32 had heated door locks in August so I went out on a 75 degree F night and with the back of my hand, I could feel the heat. Those heated door locks are a life saver though because I don't have the IR remote and I had the locks freeze on me three times this year.
