Subject: Here's the difference between OEM trunk shocks/struts and Aftermarket

Not too long ago I ordered trunk shocks/struts from a vendor on eBay. I misread the ad and thought they were going to be OEM. I put them on and was very disappointed.

The trunk would fly up like it wanted to take your chin out. Also, it took a ton of pressure to close the trunk. So much that the portion of the trunk near the rear windshield would raise up a little from the strain.

I removed the struts and emailed the Seller saying I wanted to return and a refund. No problems.

I ordered the OEM shocks manufactured by Stabilus from BMA. They arrived yesterday and I put them on this morning. It's really a piece of cake, but it would have taken me a lot longer without the posts from here.

Anyway, what a big difference. The trunk pops up a few inches when the button is pushed. It also stays at whatever level I leave it whether it be half way up or one third.

It does need to be pushed down to close. A far cry from the old ones where it would slam if you didn't catch it.

Don't bother with aftermarket. They suck. Go with the real deal from Stabilus. Very quick DIY.
