So, you've got a Mark II system running v16. Therefore, you can upgrade to V22 (same as 21 for Mark II) to get the latest nav software. V23 is only applicable for Mark IV systems. Just FYI, V18 and V19 are available for downloading, too.

After the upgrade, you should see "2-1/81" displayed in the upper right corner of the screen when you go into the "settings" menu.

You can download CloneCD to burn the ISO image of the nav software that you downloaded to a CD, or use other programs such as Roxio Easy CD Creator.

Once you've got your CD, put the key in the ignition position 2 and insert the CD into the nav computer in the trunk. Your monitor may display garbled screens (like a tv on the wrong channel) for a few seconds but that is normal. Within a few seconds, the monitor will prompt you to click OK to start the upgrade. From there, you can follow the onscreen prompts. Just don't turn off the ignition during the process.

With a Mark II system you should not be prompted for a "key CD". If you had Mark III, depending on what version of the OS you're upgrading from, you could be prompted to insert a key CD.
