Subject: It is the thing that you needed to disconnect from the dash

It is in the pictures, positioned diagonally across the 'speaker' opening in the dash, next to the vent opening.

The gong has two functions, one as a notification for the OBC and second as a safety notice.

The OBC uses the gong to indicate a temp below 1.5°C (the unit in the US measurement system converts the Metric numbers) and to indicate exceeding the max mph (if this function is turned on).

The safety aspect of the gong is for a key in the ignition (after the key has been turned as BMW was smart enough to realize that if one puts the key in then one knows. Additionally, it is for seat belt warning.

Both of these gong functions are connected to the OBC relay box under the steering wheel. Need any more ifo on the gong, oh the colors for the wires. Well heck my 83 733i ETM will not be good for that, so from the 86 535i ETM, the wires are: Red/White with Brown/Red and Red/White, Brown and Brown/Blue in the second connector.
