That was where my massive water leak was coming from last fall. Someone worked on it at some point in the car's life but neglected to reinstall the thick rubber gasket that sits between it and the firewall. Every time it rained a flood of water would flow into the car above the tunnel, completely ruining the padding and carpet (which I replaced -- big job but no more locker-room smell in the car).
