Subject: Alternative camera...

Im not sure whether the camera or the software creates it, but on the lexus (I know I shouldnt mention it here probably) that I borrowed for the weekend a couple of months back, the reversing camera image had 3 lines on it.. two white ones which went straight back (that project the width of the car) and a red one that shows the rear bumper line... I parked using the red line once, adn it left the car about 6" from the next car which was impressive..

Im not sure how compatible it would be with the BMW system, but it was physically the same camera.. if I can find a part number (and its not too expensive) I might give one a try (replacing my horid web-cam arrangement) and see if the lines are built into camera software, or the cars software... would be a nice addition (although they might need a bit of tweaking to suit the E38/E39 dimensions)

b :)
