I thank the person who posted the original mod info. If you are skilled and use the above tool you can skip all of the posted disassembly procedures and just tape and grind. It took me about 30 minutes. The most important part is to remember to notch the new snap end so it will click down and lock. If you are not a black belt with a Dremel I'd suggest sending your stuff to Canada.
