Subject: I have done some additional research, now I have specific questions...

After searching the boards and trading a few email messages, I confirmed several other folks who bought ULF modules from the UK in which the voice recognition function does not work on their car. This seems to be a common thread-- that a ULF module coded for a UK car has its voice recognition function turned off. In a perfect world, you would just need to get the ULF recoded and then you would be set to go.

However, I can not find a thread anywhere where someone has actually re-coded a ULF to turn on the voice recognition. So, I am looking for a way to get my UK-coded -522 ULF coded here in the states. I read the following in the BMW Unisversal Hands-Free Installation Instructions, and it makes me think that I may not be able to code a ULF in my 1998 E38.

"No coding data is available for the ULF Control Module on vehicles produced prior to 3/02. Therefore this system cannot be coded to the vehicle. Factory default settings allow the system to operate without coding and the voice recognition default is also set to active."

So my key questions are:

A) Does anyone know how to code a ULF module in early model year US-spec car?

B) Does anyone know how to reset a ULF back to its "factory default" settings?
