1. your engine will -- will not pull 6000 rpm
2. where did you put the O2 sensors and did you use the originals?
3. have you checked that the fuel rails are running at 43.5 psi at 6000 rpm?

1.
The engine easily pulls to 6000RPM. It just does not deliver the correct amount of power - maybe not more than around 120HP over 3000RPM

2.
The 02 sensors are placed almost exactly where they were placed originally. Both are new from BMW, specified to the VIN from which the engine is taken from.

3.
Fuel has the correct pressure. Fuel pumps are high performance Bosch units and the system also incorporates a high performance feeding pump for the catch tank.

All in all the problem is that the engine is running in some kind of emergency mode due to the inncorrect input (or should I say the lack of input) from the automatic gearbox.
I need to know which wires to modify in order to get the engine in "manual mode".

I just received a phone call from my local BMW dealer - they would like to see if it is possible to reprogram the ECUs for manual mode. This is only possible if I can get the VIN from a Euro-spec 850i (manual). I'll spend the next days trying to find such a number. There are not to many of these in Norway...
