Subject: sword is controlling the blower fan

Shayne, only E34 have resistor packs and some of them swords. E32 only swords, either from Siemens (seldom) or Behr.

@Dagger: I just found something interesting on the German board. Someone has tried for almost 1 year, change the control panel, changed the IHKA control module, checked the sword.

It was the sword.
Here a copy from the German board, try to translate it with altavista.babelfish. If any problem, let me know, you have my email address.

Heizschwert = sword
GEWONNEN!!!!

or just repair it, costs only a few bucks.

Ist just ran the most important thru altavista and corrected a bit for easier understanding:
The sword has a 5 pin connector, Pin 1 is the connection to the thumb wheel potentiometer at the control panel,
Pin 2 power supply, Pin 3 controls the relais when the thumb wheel at the control panel with the potentiometer is moved over it's range, then it get's 12 volt. Pin 4 is ground and Pin 5 the cable from the fan blower.

If you turn the thumb wheel at the control panel the voltage in pin 1 of the sword changes between 1,1 - 4.25 V. Since the transistor, which strengthens the automatic controller, has only an input voltage of 5 V, that must be the full range of control. sword and fan blower I brought to my soldering friend to check it on his working bench.result:the blower fan took up only 3.5 V. The mystery solution is, it was a defective preamplifier, the IC. In this 8-leg part are 2 preamplifiers, one of it was defective. Exchanged, 1.50 euro cost. Now it regulates again.
