Subject: Just did the caps and rotors in the 750iL

Now that my 2001 750iL has 60K miles, I decided to do a major tune up.

I have replaced the MAF, both batteries, and now the cap and rotor. Next projects are Oil Change with oil pan gasket, looking for loose bolts, Diff fluid change, fuel filter, spark plugs and trans fluid change.

Doing the Cap Rotor swap is really not that hard... I did NOT remove but just disconnected the air hose based on a right side after quick conversation with David Wiley yesterday... Thanks! and congrats again on the up and coming birth...

Anyway, it took me about an hour to do both sides. Here are some notes, sorry none of the pictures are mine. TIP: Mark ALL plug wires before removing them with a Sharpie pen so that you do not have to guess later. With 7 plugs each side, it is easy to misswire.

The Drivers side is quite simple. BMW TIS says to remove the fan, which I did not. I was just careful working around the fan

On the passengers side it was a little more tricky
BMW TIS says to remove the fan and the Non-return valve. I just disconnected the non-return valve Air hose on the passengers side by removing the two screws, and bent it out of the way (careful not to loose the o ring)

In order to get the cap off, I took all three screws out of the cap, all of the plug wires off and removed the black cover. With the cover removed you can rotate the cap to easily remove it without having to remove the fan and the complete air hose as the TIS says.
