Subject: Everyone is entitled to an opinion, certainly, but

before you take potshots at our soldiers, I suggest you pick up a rifle and chew some of the same dirt with those guys/gals. Military service has been my family's tradition going all the way back to our roots in Poland and the Soviet Union. I can tell you from my own personal experience that while I served, I met and served with people from every background imaginable - both ethnic and socio-economic. So while I support your right to an opinion, I also suggest to you that it is very difficult to form a valid one without some first-hand knowledge or experience.

Only time will tell if this conflict will turn into something lasting and beneficial for the Iraqi people. Whether or not you believe the justifications is somewhat irrelevant, no one can deny that freedom is at stake for these people. The kind of freedom that you so blithely take for granted. Consider that the government is not going to kill or oppress you for expressing your opinions regarding Bush, the military, or other things. I don't think that the Iraqis had that same ability under Hussein. I'm not suggesting that they have it now, but hopefully this will be the start.

-Just a sentiment from a certain "portion" of the population.
