Sorry, I know this is OT for this board and I apologize in advance but it's very difficult for me to ignore some of the sentiments I hear from a certain portion of the population.

Iraq in now way shape or form had the ability or desire to attack the US (they would even get soundly whipped by Israel given half the chance) so all the US soldiers over there dying are contributing NOTHING to the security of the US. In fact, if anything, they are creating a worse situation with every Iraqi civilian that is killed.

As for having a free future, why don't you ask the relatives of the 150,000+ Iraqi civilians how free they feel right about now?

Do you know over 70% of the soliders polled in Iraq thought Saddam was behind the 9/11 attacks? That tells you a couple of things, take your pick:

1. Over 70% of US soldiers in Iraq are incredibly stupid
2. There is a organized campaign to instill this kind of false information
3. People can't tell the difference between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden (this is probably tied to #1)

I wish this war was over something as honourable as spreading freedom and democracy but to insist it is would suggest that you don't have a firm grasp on reality at all.
