that the mirror was held to the back base with rivets! I tried hard to take it apart properly and learn how it was manufactured. But after 45 minutes, I finally got so frustrated that I just tore it out. That's when I saw the rivets on the back base holding the mirror. I cursed BMW engineers and figured they just wanted us to buy the whole mirror assembly.

When I get home, I can look at it again and see how it's supposed to come off.
