will play thought the system (ipod, MP3 player, etc..). You will have a AUX mode on your console screen like radio, CD, Tape, and then AUX. You can use the steering wheel volume or the presets 1-6 to adjust the gain volume.
I have my DVD audio go through the AUX and the video through the TV Module and it sounds fantastic.
