I ordered this set of gauge rings from Bavarian
Motor Works on Ebay.  I must say, they seem to be very high quality.
They are NOT plastic, but pure aluminum

There are only two screws that secure the gauge
cluster in the vehicle

There are 3 wiring connections on the rear of
the cluster.  Only two are shown (on top)  The other is to the
driver's side of the cluster

Cluster removed, on coffee table

There are 5 of these total.  4 on the
edges, one in the center.  There must ALL be turned to remove the back from
the cluster.  This is NOT an easy task.  When you turn them, they do
NOT stay turned.  You must keep them all turned at the SAME TIME.
(Yes....it sucks)

Here's another, on top

There are also other retaining clips around the
entire perimeter.  This thing was definitely not meant to come apart after
leaving the factory

Finally, the cluster is separated

The rings must be VERY SLIGHTLY bent in order
to push them thru to the front side.  After ward, press the rings BACK onto
the face of the cluster.

These rings were extremely high quality.
No need for gluing, as the fit was absolutely precise and there should be no
fear of these EVER moving

Cluster reinstalled
