Subject: Latest mod - CDC to DVD audio relay switch box...

Thanks to some very generous help & input from LA-Sean, my wish of having a more consistant switching mechanism for the stereo input to my 7 for the DVD is almost done. What we did (well, honestly, mainly Sean's ideas & help) was route the CDC digital input to a switch box with a relay, along with the analog stereo audio (input to an audio booster, then an A/D converter to get digital like audio to the relay switch box. The relay is set up to default to DVD as the input (with the relay unpowered), then I just have to push an A/B switch (or a rocker, if we can get one to fit nicely on the 16x9 bezel) to transfer to CDC audio.

It works great, & when I'm using the DVD & the navigation at the same time, the nav takes over for verbal directions & the map display if needed, then right back to the DVD (or CDC) audio & DVD video automatically. This also lets my son watch videos in the back seat (with headphones) while my wife & I listen to CDs. All I have left to do is mount the switch up front. Once again, I'm in LA-Seans debt for helping me with the concept & basically building the relay box. I did the install, but that wasn't to difficult to do.

Here's a pic of the inside of the relay box, with RCA's for CDC digital input, DVD digital input & switched digital output:

My way to crowded trunk - including, but not limited to, DVD audio/video outputs, backup camera outputs (1 for the Nav screen, 1 for the rear LCD screen), IR to RF converter for the DVD remote, A/D converter, audio booster, relay switch box, Video in Motion box, 12->9 volt converter for the A/D & more. It's actually more cleaned up now than before!!

And, finally, the 16x9 with the ground for the new switch relay box, waiting for the switch to be mounted. The ground wire runs from the relay box in the trunk up to the dash via the back seat/door sills & behind the glove box, and out between the 16x9 & the dash.

If you've gotten this far, thanks for reading & thanks again to Sean for his patience & expertise!!
