Straight pipe will definately be louder. The way I have the muffler now, there is a large volume of space being used to absorb the sound (in general, the bigger the muffler, the quieter it is).

Instead of reusing the tube with the most perfs (perforated holes), I could have used one with less and that would have made it louder, but I would rather err on the quieter side than too loud.

2000 740iL - 140k+ miles, stock other than 2 10" JL audio subs and big RockFord Fosgate amp :)
