Having communicated with SoCal7 guys over the years, I finally had the chance to meet some of them today. The ones I met today are truly a unique group of individuals. They are some of the core members of SoCal7 and have got to know each other quite well over the last couple years. When everyone arrived, they briefly greeted each other and then proceeded to work on each others cars! Keith helped Manith and I with navigation “Accept” delete, Craig worked on buffing out hairline swirls on Keith’s trunk door, Sean helped out Erik with his SoGoVision and Erik in turn gave me more of his custom blend coffee. It was very different from the “Southern California” style I am familiar with (lived in San Diego for 18 years, still commute every other week between TX & CA). I would describe this special group of guys as SoCal dudes with an East Coast attitude. They were at times so direct with each other, to the point where this hybrid Texan thought a fist fight was sure to ensue. But not to worry, that’s just the way they get things done efficiently.

Having helped organized DFW7 events since March, 2002, it was a pleasure to visit with friends of a sister club and see how they go about their business. DFW7 tend to do Tech Session or DIY projects during our quarterly group meets, some of us get together in smaller groups for weekday “power lunch”. SoCal7’s core group members is talented bunch, they truly shine (literally) in areas when it comes to electronic, navigation and detailing. They go into much more depths during their core group meets. I dare to say that it one wishes to join this group, a certain degree of knowledge with our E38 and willingness to get your hand dirty is required. I know this is not how they do things, but probably is good for anyone who wishes to join at this point.

I can go on forever, but will let the pictures do the rest. Hopefully I will be invited back to a future meet ;-)
